Anglicare currently operates the existing Woolooware Shores Retirement Village on the adjacent site at Taren Point, south of Sydney NSW.

They acquired the adjoining site to provide additional seniors residential and care facilities to meet market demand and feed into the existing facilities.

The overall development will be constructed in 3 stages and provide a total of 183 self-contained apartment dwellings and 48 residential aged care beds across six new buildings. This will reinvigorate the waterfront, offering a diverse range of new community facilities while maximizing water aspects and district vistas. The Woolooware Shores Retirement Village is designed to promote opportunities for social interactions equitable access and community awareness, providing 42 seniors living apartments and 48 RACF beds in Stage 1.

The new energy efficient buildings have been positioned and oriented on the site to maximize local water front cross breezes and solar access for residents and will achieve passive design via sun controlling elements as well as the integration of solar photovoltaic panels on the roofs. Shading, natural ventilation and thermal massing will achieve high personal comfort and low energy consumption for the occupants.

New community spaces are strategically integrated into the buildings and distributed throughout the site and to maximize connections to landscaped common areas for resident and visitor use. The landscape design includes the rejuvenation of two riparian corridors which will be planted with mostly indigenous plant species. Residents will also have access to three new landscaped podium areas with views toward Woolooware Bay.
