The Cross project, completed for development corporation The Ashington Group, refurbishes an existing 17 story commercial tower located on Kings Cross Rd, Kings Cross, into a new mixed use commercial/hotel complex. The existing tower, built in the late 1960's was refreshed externally with new white aluminium cladding, black framed glazing and a 3 story timber screen to the street level podium.

Internally, a double height street lobby was created, to be shared by both the commercial tenants and Hotel guests. Richly textured wooden veneer panels clad the walls, imbuing the dramatic space with warmth and pattern. Pale grey stone lines the floor and entry walls, standing in counterpoint to the veneer and creating a subtle yet inviting space. An artwork by indigenous artist Jonathan Jones, creates both glamour and interest.

Typical commercial floors; from level 10 - 17 are divided into commercial suites, from 27m2 - 110m2. Each suite has it's own private W.C. & kitchen facilities. The suits act as high quality small offices, and are aimed towards successful business consultants, small creative agencies and start up business enterprises.

The lower levels are by the Diamant Hotel chain, offering affordable stylish accommodation for tourists and business travellers.
