This project involved the delivery of a part of the “Accelerated Southern Hume Duplication Package,” a NSW and Australian Government funded initiative. The project comprises the duplication of 35 kilometres of the Hume Highway in southern NSW between Holbrook and the junction of the Hume Highway with the Sturt Highway north of Tarcutta.
Jackson Teece was a team member of the successful bid by Leighton Contractors, AECOM, Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation and Coffey Geotechnics for the Northern Alliance works and was responsible for the urban design and architecture of the project.
We were involved in the concept design, detail design and documentation and the construction stages of the project undertaking the design of all urban design related components and inputs to the project. These include the overpasses, creek bridges and rest areas in addition to liaising with all consultants and involvement in the Alliance process. Jackson Teece’s involvement also included the pier design and public artworks of the feature bridge – the Tumbarumba Bridge.
The project was highly commended by RTA Urban Design for design approach and final outcome. The pier and bridge design was awarded the Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia (CCAA) Public Domain National Award for Best Bridge Design (2009). The project also received the Highly Commended Silver Award Transport & Civil in the Consult Australia 2010 Awards of Excellence.
