The completion of the Southpoint Commercial tower at Southbank signifies the realisation of the first stage of the $600 Million Transit Oriented Development adjacent to Southbank rail station.

This stage of the development contains approximately 25,000 sqm of commercial space, 5,000 sqm of retail, restaurants and bars, new Southbank station facilities for Queensland Rail as well as the refurbishment and adaptive reuse of the heritage listed Collins Place.

Developed by the Anthony John Group, the commercial building will be Flight Centres new Global Headquarters and was purchased by the German fund manager Union Investment Real Estate. The retail centre is anchored by Woolworths as the major tenant and will contain a variety of retail and food offerings, with key restaurants launching in 2017.

Anthony John Group/Jackson Teece secured the project through an international design competition. As a key site in South Brisbane the evolution of the design required careful consideration of the urban framework of Southbank, in close consultation with Southbank Corporation and Brisbane City Council.

A TOD Project, the three buildings will incorporate major tenants, two apartment buildings and Brisbane's next Emporium Hotel. Jackson Teece provided Urban Design, Architecture, Heritage and Interior Design services to the AJG who have controlled this major project for almost a decade.

The remaining two stages of the project currently under construction will ultimately contain over 400 apartments, as well as a new emporium hotel, which is due for completion in 2017.
